Rustic, recycled, large antique picture frames

1 frame each 32" x 39" x 1" and 43" x 39" x 1". Fabricate frames, backer board & matting. Assemble frames, distress joinery, install glass, matting, backer board and mounting hardware.

Lumber supplied by client, two very weathered 10 1/2W” x 1” Thk x 7’5” long and 9’2” long oak.

Backer board of ½” medium density fiber board.

Glass of 1/8” thick flat glass w/ pencil edge.

Double biscuit & tandem pocket hole glue reinforced miter joint at approximately 6” intervals.

Sealer coat of thined satin polyurethane applied to the back faces of the frames to reduce moisture absorbtion and reduce dimensional variation.

Edges and joinery face blowtorched to equalizse distressing and wire brushed to blend patina.

Typical picture frame hanging hardware.

Signed and rare lithographs by some famous guy. Surprise birthday gift from wife to husband.

Scrap grade material was reclaimed, recycled antique white oak from barn board sideing and presented severe weathering on front surfaces, many checks and splits, wane and some twist.

Wavy weathered & warped condition made joinery, and preservation of the desired, distressed face difficult.
